The Numbers
Swaziland is a country of amazing beauty; friendly and welcoming people, a landscape awash with vibrant colors and covered with vast plains, rolling hills and rugged mountains. However, this beauty is easily clouded, if not lost when viewed against the insidious enemy AIDS, that is quickly and quietly killing entire generations of Swazis. In a country of roughly 1 million people, it is estimated that upwards of 46% are infected with HIV.
Because of this, there are an estimated 150,000 orphans, who in the current conditions have a life expectancy of 30 years. In fact, the UN estimates that if something doesn’t change, Swaziland will cease to exist as a nation within the next 40 years.
The Plan
So the numbers are certainly intimidating, and some might say beyond help, right? Yes, statistically the numbers are daunting, but we assure you this is no lost cause. The hope of Swaziland lies with its children. Many of these orphans and vulnerable children currently survive on a few meals a week, don’t have access to clean water or basic medical care and don’t have an opportunity to pursue an education. It is for those reasons Love’s Reach International has planted roots in Nsoko Swaziland, to establish a Community of Hope at a place called Joyella; a piece of land created as an outpost of hope, love and opportunity, a safe haven for the lonely and hurting. Here we daily provide meals for over 50 orphans and vulnerable children, medical care, education, discipleship and a place to be loved and nurtured by the local staff.
Additionally, through our capital projects initiative, we’re looking to build an additional classroom, a storage facility, a well, purchase additional land to expand our site, and fence the property for protection and safety.

The Process
In the realm of orphan care, it’s understood that there will never be enough “hands on deck” to care for all of the 147 million orphans and vulnerable children worldwide. That’s why, when it makes sense, we work collaboratively with other like-minded organizations to make the largest impact possible. As we often say, together we can do more. To that end, we’ve partnered with AIM (Adventures in Missions) and Children’s Hope Chest as we serve the children of Swaziland. We’re excited to work with these other organizations who, through compassion, love and integrity, serve these kids.
